A Traveling Pug Stays at Sir Francis Drake Hotel

Roving Rover reporter Phoebe Rose and her Mom Sheila Appleby Williams from A Traveling Pug recently visited a few of the pet-friendly hotels in The City by the Bay. In the first of their three-part series “Fido Gets Frisky in Frisco,” the traveling twosome check out all that The Sir Francis Drake Hotel has to offer pet parents and their pups when checking in to the landmark retreat.

“There may not be a Heaven, but there is a San Francisco.” – Ashleigh Brilliant

There most definitely is a heavenly San Francisco and canine reporter Phoebe Rose just returned with the scoop.

Sir Francis Drake Hotel is one of the myriad of uniquely stylish pet-friendly Kimpton hotels. Built in 1928 to accommodate those citizens with a thirst (despite Prohibition restrictions) -you can get a tour of the original secret room where the spirits (hidden in suitcases) were stored and delivery to guests was through a labryinth of secret tunnels.

The Powell Street cable cars run right outside the front entrance-but stop at a respectable time to ensure a good night’s sleep. A fan of deco details and historic architecture? Then, this is your place. Pet amenities-sure thing (including a complimentary Sir Francis Drake dog leash) and the comfort and friendly factor get an A+.

The gorgeous bar is open to guests (human and canine)-complimentary drink tickets at check-in and 24 hour room service-to ensure you and your furry friend are well fed.

The hotel is ultra conveniently located- just one short block from popular Union Square with nice grassy areas for pooch potty breaks and A level shopping bastions like Tiffany’s and Saks Fifth Avenue circling the park -an easy leisurely walk to Chinatown and North Beach. Giant individually decorated Hearts of San Francisco benefit the San Francisco General Hospital Foundation-even SF’s iconic singer
Tony Bennett, lent his artistic skill to scenic heart.
