Celebrity Pet Portrait Series Promotes Pet Adoption

Actors whose performances light up the big and small screens have used their star wattage to shine a spotlight on pet adoption and the joy that companion animals bring to our lives in a portrait series for the UK charity Blue Cross.

An animal advocate who has helped many animal welfare issues over the years, actress Miranda Richardson (Enchanted April, Merlin, Harry Potter film franchise)– who shared a snapshot with adoptable dog Paddy from Blue Cross– says of dogs and cats: “They are wonderful souls who fill rooms.”

As the famous film and TV personalities became fast friends with their furry photo partners, the moments were captured by the camera of renowned photographer Rankin. Among the animal-loving luminaries who struck poses for the paws cause were:

  • Golden Globe-winning actress Miranda Richardson
  • James Bowen and Street Cat Bob
  • Game of Thrones cast member Isaac Hempstead Wright
  • The Inbetweeners cast member Emily Head and her father, actor Anthony Head of Buffy the Vampire Slayer fame
  • The Thick of It star Joanna Scanlan
  • Michelle Collins from the British soap Eastenders

Game of Thrones star Isaac Hempstead-Wright, who posed with his own pups, stated that “They are hugely reassuring; reminder that no matter the worries in my life, my dogs will only be concerned about two simple things: food and walks!.

Founded in 1897, today Blue Cross helps approximately 40,000 animals in need each year. The UK charity provides veterinary services at four Blue Cross Animal Hospitals and several mobile clinics, educates the public on the subject of proper pet care., and finds forever pet parents for homeless dogs, cats and other companion animals.
