Irie and Tiki Enjoy a Taste of Iceland with Icelandic+

Through the years we’ve had the opportunity to attend great travel conferences with the Society of American Travel Writers, a professional development group that we’ve belonged to for many years. I’ve had the chance to speak at the conference in Bangkok, and John and I have enjoyed great outings at each destination when the day’s meetings were done, including standing on the Equator during the Quito conference, enjoying castle hopping during the Wales annual event, yodeling in the Alps at St. Moritz, exploring the Andes during the Chile conference, and walking ancient streets at the Jerusalem gathering. Each was a destination that represented one of the most fascinating locations in the world for exploration, dining, and culture.

A recent SATW conference was held in Iceland, a location that’s long been on our travel bucket list. Since these days, though, our travel involves those places we can enjoy with Irie and Tiki, so we experienced Iceland vicariously through the association newsletter and member posts. Along with geothermal spas and natural and unspoiled landscapes filled with geysers and lava fields, one thing that repeatedly came up in member coverage of the conference was the excellent dining the island offers.

While we may not have been able to bring Irie and Tiki to Iceland, we decided to bring Iceland to our dogs!

We’ve been able to give Irie and Tiki a taste of Iceland thanks to Icelandic+™, a company that produces all-natural dog treats and chews. Icelandic+ uses only the purest, natural, organic ingredients from Iceland, creating everything from Lamb Horn & Marrow Dog Chews to all-natural fish dog treats, all manufactured within FDA, USDA, EU, and MAST standards and regulations, to ensure freshness, purity, and integrity. As you might expect from a company featuring holistic dog treats, all products are made with zero additives, fillers, supplements, or preservatives.

First, Irie and Tiki started with the Lamb Horn & Marrow Dog Chews. Easier on the teeth than antlers and buffalo horns, Icelandic dogs have been enjoying lamb horn since the days of the Vikings–with the benefits of a chew that’s digestible. (As with all dog chews, take the horn away if it becomes small enough to swallow. Always supervise while your dog is enjoying an Icelandic+ Lamb Horn.)

We took the (large) Icelandic+ Lamb Horn on an excursion to the Elgin Christmas Tree Farm, keeping Irie and Tiki happy and busy as we had a picnic lunch before checking out the fields of Christmas trees. The long-lasting chew really kept the dogs occupied (and kept even a power chewer like Irie happy!)

A few days later, Irie and Tiki had another chance to sample a distinctively Icelandic treat: Cod Fish Skin Rolls. (Icelandic+ offers Capelin whole fish, Cod fish chips, Cod fish skin rolls and Redfish skin rolls.) These 100% pure fish treats are caught daily in the cold waters of Iceland and never frozen. The fish are cleaned and air-dried within FDA, USDA, EU, and MAST standards and regulations, producing a 100% edible and digestible treat. Along with promoting healthy skin and coat with Omega-3 fatty acids, being made from a single protein source also makes these a good option for dogs with food sensitivities.

The Iceland conference coverage we’d pored over had repeatedly mentioned the fish dishes. What would Irie and Tiki think of this Icelandic specialty?

Irie and Tiki loved the crunchy treats–and I loved the fact that they did not have that fishy smell. (The reason, you ask? Because the fish are always kept cold after being caught, they don’t develop as much fish odor.)

Both these options make a great choice for your dog’s stocking this holiday season! Give your dog the gift of PURE. NATURAL. UNSPOILED. Icelandic+ chews and treats.

It’s the next best thing to a trip to Iceland!
