Movie theater lights will soon lower for screenings of a documentary that will raise the public’s awareness of animal welfare issues as it raises funds to help create a better tomorrow for dogs in need of forever homes.
From August 14th through August 20th fans of flicks and Fidos can view the presentation and help a paws cause in the process as one of the theaters in the Agoura Hills Stadium 8 multiplex in Agoura Hills, California shows Saved in America, which chronicles on camera a five-year effort by filmmaker/Shelter Hope Pet Shop proprietor Kim Sill to rescue companion animals while facing those who put our pals with paws in danger– animal abusers, hoarders, gang members and puppy mill owners.
The 35-minute feature showcases both the unsung heroes whose passion for compassion drives them to save dogs and cats who are facing their fate in the shelter system, and an array of animal-loving luminaries who use their star wattage to shine a spotlight on the option of pet adoption, among them Emmy Award winner Katherine Heigl, Grammy Award winner Pink, and Dr. Phil.
“Anyone who loves or has loved a pet should see this film. It exposes the pet industry, the animal welfare system, and will open your eyes about how all of us must come together to make a change,” commented Katherine Heigl and her mother Nancy, who together co-founded The Jason Debus Heigl Foundation.
Q&A
A 15-minute Q&A will follow each screening, giving attendees the opportunity to make inquiries to members of the rescue organization benefiting from that day’s showing of the documentary.
