Sports Stars Promote Spay It Forward Campaign

Spay
Top dogs in their respective sports, St. Louis Blues captain David Backes, Jake Long of the St. Louis Rams and Trevor Rosenthal of the St. Louis Cardinals have teamed up through Athletes for Animals to offer an assist to a campaign that will be a real game changer for animals in need.

February is Spay/Neuter Awareness Month, and in recognition The Humane Society of Missouri has launched Spay It Forward, which asks dog devotees and fans of felines to get in the game and help raise $250,000 for a paws cause– the spaying or neutering of 2,5000 companion animals in 2015.

On a mission to spread the message, the three animal-loving athletes will be seen on Spay It Forward billboards and PSAs in the St. Louis area.

People with a passion for compassion can choose the amount which they wish to donate, with $25 providing post-surgery care for an animal and $50 covering the cost of veterinary surgical services for one procedure. A $75 gift can pay for surgical anesthesia for two animals, while the contribution of $100 can help to curb the crisis of pet overpopulation by providing one dog or cat with spay/neuter surgery.
