Today we’ve been traveling with Irie and Tiki in La Grange, Texas, a small town near the even smaller community where John grew up. We stopped for lunch at Monument Hill and Kreische Brewery State Historic Sites, perched high up on a hill over the Colorado River.
The park’s holiday decorations were still in place (more photos from our hike tomorrow)…but before we could even get to the picnic area, Tiki spotted trouble: a polar bear.
Irie paid the polar bear no attention at all but Tiki froze in her tracks as soon as she spotted the fellow. She backed away…
…she checked him from a different direction and got a closer look…
…then decided it was time to retreat!
Tiki then (seeing Irie standing nearly beside the bear along with John) decided she’d lean forward and check out this unusual fellow a little closer…
…but not TOO close! There was only one solution: circle around, far out of his reach…
…and check him out like she would any other dog!
