David Backes to Lead Team at Trails for Tails

BackesSports star David Backes, who leads his team to victory as the captain of the St. Louis Blues, will lead a pack of compassionate walkers as they make great strides toward creating a better future for homeless dogs and cats at the 16th annual Trails for Tails.

Taking place on September 7, 2014, the professional ice hockey player and co-founder of Athletes for Animals will head the Athletes for Animals team as they embark on a 5K or 1 mile fun trek in Frontier Park to raise funds for Five Acres Animal Shelter, which hosts the annual event. Registration for the Athletes for Animals team is $25, with special Tails for Trails t-shirts included for those whose pledges reach more than $50. Prior to the start of the event, all A4A team members are invited to get in the huddle with their famous team captain for a group photo.

Along with promenading with your pup in the one mile dog walk or jogging for the sake of dogs and cats in need in the 5K, attendees can also enter their tail-wagging chums in a variety of fun canine contests or try their luck in a raffle, all in support of the paws cause.

Each step taken by all of the participating teams at Five Acres Animal Shelter’s 16th annual Trails for Tails will help the non-profit take steps toward achieving the ultimate goal of ending pet homelessness in the area of St. Charles, Missouri. The sole no-kill facility in St. Charles County, Five Acres Animal Shelter has provided care for companion animals in need since 1973.

When: September 7, 2014 from 9 a.m. – noon
