The Edmonton Oilers’ David Perron Visits Edmonton Humane Society

BjSO0cnCMAA-rJRAlways willing to offer an assist to animals in need, professional ice hockey player David Perron and his girlfriend Vanessa recently paid a visit to the Edmonton Humane Society to shine a spotlight on the option of pet adoption.

A proud pet parent to a calico cat named Alice and two barking buddies (Jack and Stella, a Mastiff/Rottweiler mix who was adopted from the no-kill Missouri facility Five Acres Animal Shelter during Perron’s days with the St. Louis Blues), the athlete became fast pals with the pets at the charitable organization in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, which provides comfort and care to approximately 600 to 700 dogs, cats, puppies, kittens and other companion animals each day.

The Left Wing for the Edmonton Oilers is just one of the compassionate sports stars who are ambassadors for Athletes for Animals, which was founded in late 2013 by St. Louis Blues captain David Backes and his wife to offer financial assistance to rescue organizations, promote the option of pet adoption and educate the public on the topic of responsible pet guardianship.
