She’s raised people’s spirits in comedies like 27 Dresses, The Ugly Truth and Life As We Know It, and now actress Katherine Heigl is joining with her Fido- and feline-loving fans to raise funds for a paws cause.
Through December 31, 2013 the animal-loving luminary will match each charitable donation sent in to The Jason Heigl Foundation, up to a total value of $100,000.
Speaking about the initiative, the star stated: “The dollar for dollar donation match is not only fantastic news for companion animals who desperately need our help, but also a great way to thank people for their generosity and contribution to the life saving work of the Jason Debus Heigl Foundation.”
A labor of love established by Katherine Heigl and her mother in 2008 to honor a late brother and son’s passion for compassion towards animals, The Jason Debus Heigl Foundation has helped to curb the problem of pet overpopulation in the Los Angeles area through the Compassion Revolution program, and has saved the lives of countless pets facing their fate in kill shelters through The Heigl Foundation Transport Program and The Heigl Hounds of Hope rescue group.
