Nicky Clarke, who has looked after the locks of Tinseltown legends and managed the manes of members of the British royal family over the course of his career, recently used his styling skill to help rescue Spots get ready to step into the spotlight at Battersea Dogs and Cats Home’s annual star-studded fundraising soiree, the Collars & Coats Gala Ball.
Now perfectly coifed canines Charlie (a Cocker Spaniel) and Maple (a Saluki) are ready to mingle with movers and shakers in the worlds of entertainment, fashion and sports thanks to the VIP treatment they received from Clarke and his partner, fashion designer Kelly Simpkin, at Clarke’s famed Mayfair salon.
Speaking out about the event, the celebrity stylist stated: “This is the biggest night of the year for Battersea dogs and I really wanted to help them dazzle as they enjoy walking the red carpet at the charity’s Gala Ball. We are huge supporters of Battersea and the amazing work the charity does in caring for all its special animals and it’s been a delight spending time pampering the Home’s rescue dogs.”
Kelly Simpkin added, “What a great day at the salon. Not our usual customers, but Charlie and Maple were a real joy to pamper. They are the perfect models, and these gorgeous dogs will surely steal the show at the Collars & Coats Gala Ball.”
Taking place no November 7th, a doggy Guard of Honor representing the 450 Fidos who currently reside at the renowned rescue facility will greet the glitterati as they enter Evolution in Battersea Park for an evening of philanthropic fun hosted by Britain’s Got Talent judge Amanda Holden and Paul O’Grady OBE, star of the award-winning docu-series Paul O’Grady: For the Love of Dogs.
