Pup Aid, London, England, September 7, 2013

PupAs postman Thomas Brown in the popular British period drama series Lark Rise to Candleford he delivered the daily mail, and now in his real life role as a dog devotee actor Mark Heap is helping to deliver the news that people can help to put an end to puppy mills.

While Heap’s bored barking buddy invites his four-pawed pals over for a house party in the humorous video seen above, on September 7th families and their Fidos can party for a paws cause at Pup Aid, an annual celebrity-judged dog show in London which the real winners are dogs in need.

Along with a parade of puppy mill survivors, an agility course, a guide dog display, and a boutique dog shopping village, fans of Fidos can watch as canines compete to be named top dog in the following categories: Golden Oldies; Most Handsome and Prettiest Dog; Dog that looks most like a celebrity; Wolf by my side; Best Rescue Dog; My Dog’s Got Talent; Dogs Loudest Bark; Best Pedigree Dog; Child’s Best Friend; Most Stylish Pooch in London and Best in Show. A popular day of play with a purpose among high-profile pals of those with paws, Ricky Gervais, Liam Gallagher, Downton Abbey star/animal advocate Peter Egan and actor Mark Williams (Arthur Weasley in the Harry Potter film franchise) are among the stars who have taken part in past Pup Aid events.

Established in 2010 by TV vet Marc Abraham, the happening with heart helps to shine a spotlight on Pup Aid’s mission to educate the public about the cruel conditions which puppy mill dogs are forced to endure, the link between puppy mills and many pet stores, and the proper way to find a four-pawed pal.

People with a passion for compassion can also show their concern for puppies and kittens who have been separated too soon from their mothers and transported for sale in pet shops, websites and private dealers by putting their signatures along the more than 65,000 other animal lovers who have already signed Marc Abraham’s e-petition.
