One of our dogs has recently become very aggressive. She is food aggressive, aggressive to our other dogs, and also aggressive towards us as she tries to bite us with a serious intent for just lifting her off the couch please help. Her name is Baby she is 5 years old; she is a miniature pinscher terrier mix and our other dog is a purebred Doberman Pinscher whose name is Sheba and recently turned one year old. We’ve had her for 9 months.–Heather
Dear Heather,
Aggression can make everyone in the household nervous, anxious and well aggressive. In my professional experience, aggression comes about in 2 ways: progressively and acutely.
As I am a trained Professional Bodyworker for animals, I have observed that aggression usually stems out of some type of discomfort or pain in the dogs system. This can come from a misalignment of the spine, an aching tooth, a pinched nerve, etc.
In a case like this it would be important to remember if this came on progressively or suddenly. As strange as it may sound, my intuition is telling me that the best place to start with Baby may just be a doggie chiropractor to make sure she is not in pain.
Once you are certain she is not in pain or her pain has been alleviated, I would recommend working with a trained Professional Positive Reward based trainer in your area to transform the situation in a safe and clear manner.
