Actress Michelle Forbes, who recently garnered an Emmy nomination for her role in the AMC series The Killing, won the hearts of animal lovers as she helped a Camarillo, California shelter kick start a three-month-long adoption drive.
On August 6, 2011 the True Blood star joined That’s So Raven‘s Orlando Brown and cat behaviorist Jackson Galaxy from the Animal Planet series My Cat from Hell to promote Ventura County Animal Service’s participation in the ASPCA $100K Challenge. One of 50 shelters across America hoping to win $100,000, the Camarillo site needs to find forever homes for more than 1,780 orphaned adorables from now through October 31st.
Thanks in part to the famous fans of Fidos and felines in attendance, Ventura County Animal Services reports that they are already making strides toward reaching their goal, with 55 pets (37 dogs, 8 cats and 10 rabbits and other “pocket pets”) placed with parents during the event. (According to the Contra Costa Times, one lucky terrier was taken home by Michelle Forbes.)
The adoption event was a return visit to Ventura County Animal Services for the actress, who– along with That’s So Raven star Orlando Brown, former Playboy Playmate Devin Devasquez and Surf Dog Ricochet– helped to shine a spotlight on the shelter in July by touring the facility and stepping in front of a camera for an adoption option PSA filmed by Bound Angels, a non-profit which has saved the lives of countless pets in peril through their Shelter Angel video program.
