Movie theater parking lots from coast to coast will soon be filled with the cars of movie buffs who are lining up to see Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues and the acting debut of Quince– a former homeless dog whose road to stardom began when he was found wandering in a grocery store parking lot.
Saved by a Virginia rescue, the terrier mix’s photogenic face caught the eye of Hollywood animal trainer Mathilde de Cagny during her online search of pet adoption sites for a dog in need who could step into the paw prints of Peanut, a dog rescued from the Los Angeles Animal Services East Valley Shelter. Peanut portrayed Will Ferrell’s silver screen sidekick Baxter Burgundy in the 2004 box office hit, Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy. (Find out more about Quince’s comedic chops in the latest issue of Dog Fancy magazine.)
Today a beloved member of de Cagney’s fur family, Quince is currently helping other companion animals who are hoping to land a starring role in the heart and home of a forever pet parent by partnering with Nutrish, Rachael Ray and Rachael’s Rescue to launch Baxter’s Scholarship for Classy Dogs. For every new like (up to 10,000) of Nutrish’s Facebook page through December 23rd, Nutrish will donate $1 to the scholarship, which will benefit the San Diego Humane Society.
