97*365: Sunset Photography

This evening I had the best of intentions. Tonight is a full moon so I planned to get some photos of the moon rising on the after-dinner dog walk. Yesterday the moon was just beautiful as it was rising when we were returning home….but I had no camera. So tonight I took my camera…

…and the clouds obscured any view of the moon rising…

So I decided to improvise with a few after sunset photos. For super sharp photos after sunset, you need to take your tripod…but two leashes, a camera, and a tripod do not mix. Whatever you do, though, do NOT fall back on your flash or you’re going to wind up with photos that look nothing like the gently-tinted scene you enjoyed.

First I got some shots of the sunset, although we don’t have a great view…

We continued our walk then, on return to the house, the dogs decided they had to squeeze in one more dip in the creek today…

I liked this shot because the water reflected the sunset sky.

Don’t put your camera away when the sun goes down!
