Over the course of her acting career Allison Janney has won seven Emmy Awards. Now the star of the popular CBS sitcom Mom has won the admiration of dog devotees for raising awareness of companion animals in U.S. shelters who want human fathers and mothers to love.
An A-list animal advocate, Janney cherishes her real life role as a pet parent to her rescue dogs, Addie, Sippie and Dutch. Her barking buddy Addie recently had the chance to star alongside her famous Mom in Best Friends Animal Society’s ‘I Saved My Best Friend’ campaign. Other stars who have helped the renowned non-profit organization shine a spotlight the option of pet adoption and putting an end to the problem of pet overpopulation through spaying/neutering include actress Amanda Seyfried, Shameless star Emmy Rossum, Dancing with the Stars judge Carrie Ann Inaba and Under the Dome cast member Rachelle Lefevre.
“The work that Best Friends has done for the far too many animals in need has been noting short of amazing,” the star stated. “Through their strategy, coordination and outreach I believe we will see a day when we can save animals from senseless deaths in overcrowded shelters. Please remember to adopt, don’t shop. And if you’re not able to bring an animal permanently into your home, please consider fostering or volunteering. Your life will be better for it.”
Founded in 1984, Best Friends Animal Society has played a vital role in reducing the number of animals who lose their lives in U.S. shelters each year from 17 million to an estimated four million. Operating the largest no-kill sanctuary in the country, Best Friends– which has adoption centers and spay/neuter facilities in both Salt Lake City, Utah and Los Angeles, California– has also partnered with over 1,300 rescue groups and shelters from coast to coast to further Best Friends’ no-kill movement and help #SaveThemAll.
