66*365: Photographing a Pet Festival

With spring just around the corner, more and more weekends will be fetching dog festivals in the coming weeks! Today we’ve pulled a few photos from past dog events just to give you some ideas for photographing your next area dog festival.

Above, you’ll see the entry area at an indoor pet expo, a photo that illustrates a fun way to add interest to your photos, especially if you might assemble your photos into a slideshow: include a sign. A sign photographed at an angle like this can lead your eye into the photo. A photo with a sign also makes a fun title shot for slideshows.

While it’s always fun to photograph your own pets at special events, don’t forget to enjoy photographing other pets as well, such as this happy schnauzer at a local blessing of the pets…

…or this shot in a fun dog competition…

If there are rescue dogs available for adoption at the event, try to photograph at least one so you can share that dog’s photo with your friends and social media buddies when you get home…

For all the closeup photos, though, don’t forget to take photos of booths and crowd fun (like this shot of fellow bloggers I Love Rescue Animals and Teeny’s Friends)…

And remember to take a photo of the event’s “performers,” whether that’s a demonstration by the local police dogs…

…or dancing with dogs…

Do you have a photo from a local dog event you’ve photographed? Please share it below using the + link in the comments box!
