60*365: Adding an Interesting Foreground Object to Your Photo

Share with fellow dog lovers!

OK, most of the time, either Irie or Tiki IS the foreground object in most of our dog photos. Every now and then, though, it’s fun to mix things up and add a different foreground object with one of the dogs behind that object.

Here’s an example from this morning’s hike. Tiki is sitting behind the remnants of a burned out stump, one left from when a fire ravaged this area back in the Fifties. The stump is hollowed out and spiky; it reminded me of a crown.

Adding a foreground object like this creates depth to your photo. Because the stump was so close to the camera (my cell phone’s camera), it appears larger than real life and it helps create the illusion of depth in the photo.
