Sometimes when you’re photographing your dog, you have to work fast. Like today. The calendar might say Valentine’s but we’re working on some Mardi Gras-themed photos of Tiki and Irie which involved this cute little hat I found at the thrift store.
As I’ve mentioned before, Irie and Tiki are not into dress up. They’ll humor me for the sake of photos…but only if I’m quick!
The problem that many cameras has is shutter lag. The photo you planned of this…
…can suddenly become this while you wait on the camera…
Since “let the good times roll” is fine in New Orleans but not so much for a photo shoot, you want to make sure that camera is ready to snap the next photo.
To prevent that shutter lag, hold your shutter release button halfway down. Unless you have continuous focusing on, you’ll need to do it again to refocus if your dog (or you) move but you’ll be ready to snap that photo as soon as your dog strikes a pose!
