365: Tiki’s First Elevator Ride!

Today was a big day for Tiki…including her first elevator ride!

A few weeks ago, I bought a couple of Groupons to Picture People, a portrait studio in the mall. They offer pet portraits so I thought it would be great to get a professional portrait of Tiki and me.

Last week, I had called the portrait studio and walked through everything, which included that dogs have to be either muzzled while in the mall or in a carrier. Since Tiki weighs 65 pounds, that made that decision easy.

There was only one catch: pets have to arrive half an hour before the mall opens and be out before the mall opens. That means entering the mall through one particular door…which opens onto the second floor of the mall. The portrait studio is on the first floor of the mall.

The mall escalators are usually turned off until opening time, so that would give us plenty of time just to walk on down the escalator like a big staircase. No problem.

Except that today they turned on the escalators extra early.

I haven’t been at the mall in over a year but I remembered that there was an elevator halfway down the mall so Tiki and I down there. She was a champ on her first elevator ride (and a glass elevator, at that.)

And Tiki was such a pro at the portrait studio! I can’t wait to bring you some photos for the shoot next week!
