186*365: Substituting a Filter for a Lens Cap

I am the world’s WORST about losing lens caps. I have lost more lens caps than I can remember. Time and time again, I’ve put lens caps down and walked off, never to think of them again until I went to put the camera up at the end of the day. I’ve left them in my pocket and laundered my jeans…with the lens cap in them. And some lens caps just plain disappeared.

A few years ago, I switched to use of a UV/Haze filter instead of a lens cap. It’s always on the camera, protecting the lens, and it’s inexpensive enough that I don’t have to worry about scratching the filter; if it becomes scratched, I can just replace it!
