179*365: Drawing Attention to Your Image’s Focal Point

Today I’m continuing with another one of our BlogPaws photos. Yesterday’s 365 Photo Project featured an image of celebrity dog Tillman, the skateboarding dog; today’s photo is another celebrity dog: Preston, star of Preston Speaks.

Preston is such a joy to photograph; this boy works the camera! He’s eager to pose when the camera is pointed his way.

Today’s tip is about drawing attention to your photo’s focal point. In this case, the focal point of the image is Preston. His head, following the rule of thirds, is positioned off center (think tic tac toe lines). Your attention is drawn to him because (besides the fact that he’s super cute) his mom is looking at him, drawing your attention back into the photo and to the photo’s focal point: Preston!
