Kevin Bacon Promotes #KissedByaPit

BaconPet parents with a dogged devotion for their Pit Bulls can be just one degree of separation from Kevin Bacon by following the Footloose star’s lead and taking part in the Kissed By a Pit campaign.

The actor recently stepped in front of the camera with Lily– a Pittie who plays a prominent role in his offscreen life– to receive a pooch smooch for a paws cause. The playful peck from his pup not only promotes a positive image of dogs who are often unjustly hounded by prejudice, but also helps the non-profit animal rescue organization which Bacon chose to make a donation to, Animal Haven NYC.

Created by Dog Park Publishing, #kissedbyapit is asking animal lovers with a Pit Bull-type dog in their fur family to record a loving lick from their Pittie pal, share it on social media, and make a minimum donation of $5 to the local animal shelter or rescue group of their choice.   Since its launch on August 20th at www.facebook.com/ittypitties, the campaign has helped to raise more than $50,000 for various animal charities.

The co-founder of Dog Park Publishing, Alfred C. Martino, states: “We are grateful to the wonderful pit bull owners across the world who are participating and helping to change false impressions about these great animals. The vast majority of pit bull related incidents can be directly linked to human cruelty, negligence or stupidity. Conscientious pit bull owners know that their dogs are wonderful pets who should not be subject to breed specific legislation, media misrepresentation or the false labeling as dangerous.
